How to create a code in Podium
print icon

To create a code for a partner, locate the profile in podium and scroll down to the Codes section.

You can set up a code to apply a discount OR to just recognize the referral and not apply a discount or neither, just to track leads.

A new 'Add Code' window will appear with the following sections:

  • Code
  • Tenants Discount Options
  • Condo Discount Options
  • Rented Home Discount Options
  • Home Discount Options
Completing the Code fields

Code:  Enter the code you would like to use for this partner. Choose something easy that brokers/clients won't have trouble remembering. An email address or if you are setting up rental properties I would suggest using the name of the building.

Different Business Name to Display: When a customer uses this code in the funnel a message will appear confirming the customers relationship with this business. Do you want a different business name to display to customers in the thru funnel? If yes, enter the name in this field.  Here is an example of where it would show:

Send Email Notifications: When setting up the partner profile notifications were selected for cancellations, renewals etc. This section is referring to those notifications. If the referral partner does not need to be notified select No. This is a yes/no field.

Attached Contacts: The contacts section refers to who will be receiving the notifications for this code. If referral fees are being paid, a code can only be attached to ONE contact. If NO referral fees are being paid the code can be allocated to multiple contacts. A contact must be created first before a code can be attached.

The bottom of the fields shows the policy types that you can select, to attach the code to:

Tenants, Condo, Rented Home, Home

Select/Unselect as required. As products are unselected the section for that product will be removed leaving only the required sections.

If required, click each section header to expand the section.

Refer to the insurer(s) manual to ensure you can get quotes for all insurers (setting a lower deductible etc might be unacceptable to an insurer and therefore you would not get their quote).

Setting up a code with OR without a discount

The below instructions show how to set up a code, to include a discount on the policy for the customer.

You would follow the same process if you do NOT want to apply a discount, except where the field asked for the discount amount or % - Use $0.

Setting up a partner profile to pay referral fees vs not paying referral fees.

When you are first creating the partner profile in podium, one of the initial profile questions is: Pay Referral Fees?

How you answer this question will impact the verbiage that the customer sees in thru, so that it only mentions possible payments of referral fees and discounts if set up that way.

Here are the two examples:

  • If you use a partner that has referral fees under the main profile contact – this is the verbiage in thru when the code is entered:

  • If you set up a partner profile to NOT pay referral fees, this is the verbiage in thru:
