January 12th, 2022 : we will deploy a fix to our platform to address cancellation screen functionality.

This fix is related to the date that the cancellation calendar defaults to, which is causing users of the platform to cancel from the incorrect date.

Fix 1: General cancellations

What happened before

What will happen after the deployment

When completing the cancellation screen in bond (i.e. customer requested cancellation), existing functionality caused the effective date to incorrectly default to the policy effective date.

When you cancel a policy, it will correctly default to the date the cancellation is being made (i.e. if you are doing the cancellation today, it defaults to today).

Fix 2: Flat cancels

A flat cancel means that you cancel the policy from the date it started. This may result in back-dating; we’ll explain more below.

What happened before

What will happen after the deployment

When you issued a flat cancel, existing functionality caused the platform to incorrectly default to the date you were doing the cancellation.

When you make a flat cancel, the platform will correctly default to the effective date of the policy.

If the cancellation effective date is backdated, here’s what you need to do:

  • Get permission from the insurer to backdate.

  • If needed, have thebackdate policy change” permissions assigned for your team members. If team members don’t have this permission, the user wont be able to process a backdated flat cancel.
